The theme for the 2009 Carlinville Jr/Sr/Post High Gathering is "Show & Tell" based on James 2:18, "But someone will say, 'You have faith; I have deeds.' Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.(NIV)"

We also want to welcome back Pr. Roy Christell. Pr. Roy will be our keynote speaker for the weekend.

Junior/Senior/Post High Youth Gathering and LYO Convention held at Lake Williamson Christian Center, Carlinville, Illinois .

Junior/Senior/Post High Youth and adult sponsors from all over the synod gather in December at Lake Williamson Christian Center in Carlinville , Illinois . The event begins on Friday evening and ends on Sunday about noon following worship. Junior High youth may be young people in 6th, 7th and 8th grade depending on how different area school districts and congregations organize their programming. In it's second year, the format for this event will not change. There will be large group worship and small group Bible studies. The Junior High youth will participate in a series of workshops while the High School and Post High will participate in the Barn Quest experience. High School and Post High youth will be small group leaders for the Junior High groups and adult volunteers will be the small group leaders for the Senior/Post High groups. The LYO Board will continue to plan much of the programming, lead small groups, and run some of the workshops. These youth are very involved with the LYO Board and Planning Committee, their congregations and Leadership Lab.

The continued overall goal of the gathering is to empower young people and adults in their continuing commitment to God and to share their faith in Christ with others. This is accomplished through large group worship celebrations, small group Bible studies, an assortment of workshops and the chance to meet and interact with friends, old and new. The Lutheran Youth Organization (LYO) also holds its annual convention during the morning workshop time. At the convention, youth from all over the synod come together to elect officers and do the work of the LYO.
